MICAH TURNED TWO!

Happy Birthday to Micah! My little man turned two this week. How'd that happen?? We had a lot of fun on his birthday. He had just learned the week before to make the two with his fingers, so he had a great time showing everyone how old he was. That morning we decorated the cupcakes for his party. Both he and Josiah had fun putting those together--it was messy and we had to sample the ingredients...what could be better! That afternoon the boys got to play with grampa while gramma and I ran errands and for dinner we all ate at Louis', which, of course, was followed by cupcakes for dessert. Heres a pic of Micah licking his lips in anticipation!

After the cupcakes Micah had a few presents to open, one of which was his "Elefun" game. It was a big hit! I thought I had some pictures of the boys playing it on my camera, but I must have dreamed that. I'll take some to show you later.

On Saturday, Micah had his birthday party. We had nine little kids here for his art party--it was a ton of fun, even if the weather didn't cooperate and we were all crowded inside. The kids had a blast getting to paint on the "wall" and made all sorts of beautiful pictures.

All of the kids seemed to have a good time yesterday, but I think Micah's favorite was eating more cake! Check this out:

So all in all, I'd say the celebration was a success. Thanks to everyone who helped put it all together. I think sometimes I was more in the way with my crutches than anything, but oh well! I couldnt have done it without all the help so a big THANKS from me and Micah for all your hard work! I'll send some more photos on photoworks soon, so you can see more moments of fun!

The Apples and the Tree

I truly think that Micah is going to be one of those kids who always has some sort of cut, bump, scrape or other injury (hopefully none will be serious) because honestly, it is always something with him. Just when the scrape on his chin from falling into the stairs was healing, he scraped his knee, not once, but twice--the same knee, the same spot, two days in a row. Needless to say, the second was worse than the first because it basically just took off all the previously injured skin. ANYWAY...he has developed a strong attachment to one of my teddy bears, Pookah, and when he gets hurt (after I hold him and he screams for a minute) the first word out of his mouth is usually "Pookah." And he will hold Pookah and sit with Pookah and then he's good to go again! So here is a picture of Micah, his band-aid and Pookah. And yes, Pookah is also wearing a diaper.

Here's another photo for you...Look familiar? And I want you to know, this was all his idea! I didn't even plant a seed of the idea in him...at least not verbally!

If you cant tell, that's his fisher price camera and he's doing a self portrait. What a great idea! (for those of you who are not familiar with my picture taking, I probably have about 500 pictures of me with various other people that were taken like that) Ahh, my young photographer. I guess it's true what they say about the apple not falling far from the tree! Here's his picture. A bit washed out because that camera isn't good with close-ups, but he's working with what he's got!

And here's a picture he took all by himself of me and Micah. He seems to actually be getting the idea of taking a picture of something. Although his interests are very different from mine...he took a picture of the bottom of my crutches and of the people walking their dog on the street in front of our house, but hey--they were pictures of something!

Haircuts!

The boys got haircuts a couple of weeks ago (I can hardly believe its been that long already, but then again I have spent most of it in a drug induced stupor). I think they look adorable! Josiah got his cut super short because he informed us that he wanted his hair cut just like daddy's, so that's what we did. Thankfully Micah was not old enough to understand that exchange because I have no doubt that he would have jumped on that bandwagon right behind big brother. Someone told me last week that the only real difference between Micah and Josiah right now is that Micah does it second...and that's not too far from the truth! Although their personalities are quite different and Micah is super independent, most of the time he does whatever big brother has just done. And for now that's working for them. They love to play together and rescue each other from all sorts of woes, taking turns being the rescuer and rescuee (roles determined by Josiah), always winning in the end. Someday, though, I think Micah might buck the system, implement some rules of his own and change the name of the game. Wont that be fun to see them work through!
