This morning Micah and I were playing "I Miss You" in my room (it's a popular game at our house). It goes something like this: one person hides. Everyone cries because he is gone and we will miss him soooo much. The hider pops out, but no one can see this because we are all "crying" too hard. After several attempts by the hider to get our attention, the criers notice that the missing person is back and we hug and kiss and celebrate the missing person's return. I don't know, but the kids love it. Anyway...we were playing this and Micah was the one hiding. It was at least the fourth time in a row, so I changed things up a bit and found him hiding instead of waiting for him to come out. When I found him, this is what he said: "Mommy, how did you know it was me? I had my eyes closed!"
Later on, I was packing us up for a pool party. I had the kids put their suits on before we left and was putting their dry clothes in a bag in case they wanted to change before we came home. I thought I had everything, but a few minutes later Micah walked up to me holding Josiah's underwear by his fingertips at arm's length and says (in a sing-song voice): "Moooooooommyyyyyyy, you forgot Josiah's stinky uuuuun-deeeeeees!"

My One Tooth Wonder
Well, guys, my baby girl has her first tooth. Woot! We got up this morning and there it was, poking through on the bottom. SHE'S GROWING UP SO FAST! AHHHHH!

So, while I'm on here again I'm going to share a few pics from the last couple of weeks. Here is Micah attacking John. I love the look on his face!

Emilia has also started eating baby food and cereal. Most of you know this is my LEAST favorite part of babies, but here we are anyway. Wanna know how she lets me know she's had enough? She waits until the spoonful of whatever is in her mouth an then she blows a raspberry, thus spraying me and everything else around with food. Yum. Why do people like this????

Yesterday we went to the zoo with my friend Angela and her kids. I didn't get many good pics because that Kate is a hard one to catch on camera!! But I did get this one picture that is really cute. Micah and Kate were conspiring their getaway. And I will admit, this is a reenactment.

This last one is Josiah listening to his FP3 player this morning. He really likes the stories on it. He really likes listening to stories, period. We have a few books on CD (kids books, that is) and he likes to listen to them in the car, or even at home, if I've brought them in from the car. This picture just reminds me of the ones from when my brother, sister and I were little and we would listen to records with those ENORMOUS headphones on. And really, for the times, these headphones are enormous, I guess.

Forget Something?
They boys played in the sprinkler this afternoon. After coming in, I helped Micah pick out clothes and then went in the living room to play with Emilia. A few minutes later Micah walked out, dressed and carrying his underwear in his hand. I asked, "Did you forget to put on your underwear?" He said, "No," pulled out the waistband of his pants, looked down and said, "Yes." Then he looked in his hands and laughed. What a silly boy! :)
You know you're old when...
The boys were at my mom's not too long ago when this conversation happened:
Josiah: I can't build a fire because I'm too little. But you can because you're old.
Nana: I think you mean I'm old-ER, not that I'm old.
Josiah: No, you're old.
Nana: How do you know?
Josiah: Because your face...it's all...SQUISHY.
(Niiiiice. My kids have such great manners sometimes)
This happened at the zoo yesterday:
Josiah: You go down this way to get to the kids area.
Me: You're right.
Josiah: I'm ALWAYS right.
(At least he THINKS he's always right, and sometimes nothing can convince him that he's wrong, no matter how flawed his thinking.)

Road Trip to Iowa 2008
I am happy to say we all survived 32+ hours in the car together for the trip to and from Iowa. I must admit that as a mom of three I was a "little" apprehensive about the car ride--that's a lot of time in a confined area with little to do! But my kids surprised me because not only did we survive the trip, I think we even had fun (in the car, that is, I KNOW we had fun in Iowa...but I'll get to that in a minute). Ok, there were a few stressful times in the car when Emilia was just tired of being in her carseat and would scream for 30 minutes or so, but other than that, things were good. Who knew it could be so good? In fact, we're already planning the next road trip up there!
While we were in Iowa we had a BLAST! The boys went swimming almost every day, got to play with toy guns with great-grandpa, played games with the cousins, went to the playground at Camp Okoboji and stayed up waaaaaaay past their bedtime every night. We spent one evening at Arnold's Park, but next year I think we'll spend a whole day there because none of us were ready to leave but it was 8:30 and we hadn't eaten dinner yet! John and the boys went paddleboating on the lake, John and I went kayaking, and we tried to teach Josiah how to play "PIG." But the highlight of it all was getting to spend the week with family. We had such an awesome week. John was surprised at how much fun it was, afterall, what is there in Iowa other than corn? (which, by the way, we saw TONS of, but didn't eat any) But he's even excited about going back again next year.
My favorite part of the week was watching the boys play and just be with my grandparents. I love my grandparents because they're just awesome, but also because I have so many great memories of being at their house and being silly, eating cookies and just being loved on by them. It was beyond words to watch my kids getting to experience the same things. And I know they felt it, too, because when we were coming home Micah asked to go back to their house because "great grandma and great grandpa's house is fun-er than our house." And every night when we left to go to bed Micah would start to cry and say he didn't want to go home. I would tell him we were just going to the house we rented to sleep and we'd be back at great grandma and grandpa's tomorrow and just like that he would stop crying and say, "OK" and be fine. Josiah is already coming up with list of things he wants to do next year....Oh, and he wants to go to Riley's house tomorrow. If only she didn't live in Idaho! But he assures me that "Riley's mommy....what's her name again?" she said that they were going to come over. And beyond all of that, how many kids have a chance to play with their GREAT grandparents? It was awesome. I'm kicking myself for not taking any video while I was there, but I've got lots of pictures that I'll try to get into a slideshow to post tomorrow.
AND...a very, very happy SIXTIETH wedding anniversary to my grandparents!! How amazing is that? I love you both so, so much. It was so good to get to spend the week with you.
